"A story of twelve men as their women never knew them..."
General Frank Savage is given command of a group of bombers during World War II. They have to carry out missions over Germany. Savage demands the maximum from his men; they need to fly as low as possible, and take a lot of risks. This often has disastrous results for the pilots, but Savage has no pity. The further they progress, the more Savage realizes that his leadership style does not give his men confidence.
