Tumman Veden Päällä plot

Pete opens his eyes in the morning, overwhelmed by the sunlight. Family life goes on and is almost idyllic. But then he begins to hear noises at night, quarreling from his parents, crying. His father disappears and mother takes the children to grandma and grandpa. Pete's thoughts are flooded with fear and confusion as he is confronted from the happy family situation with his father's alcohol use and the violent rift between his parents. What are the consequences if a child loses unconditional trust and admiration for his parents?
