In the eighties, Thieu lives in the Vietnamese countryside. He and his brother Tuong do and share everything together. Tuong adores his older brother and seeks his approval in everything. In fact, Thieu's tough behavior is overcompensating for his sheer insecurity. He is constantly jealous of Tuong's grades, talent and the fact that their girl next door Moon likes Tuong. All this leads to an act of violence that paralyzes Tuong.
