Miriam is an actress who is also a dedicated sign language teacher. She herself is not deaf, but her friend Lola, her parents and many friends all belong to the deaf community. But when Miriam's hearing rapidly deteriorates, her world collapses. Despite all the deaf people in her life, she refuses to accept a world without sound.
