The Young Captives plot
Jamie Forbes is on the run after committing a murder. It is hard for him to suppress his sometimes emerging suicidal tendencies. Jamie can join the young couple Ann Howel and Benjie Whitney, who are also on the run from the police. Ann and Benjie are actually not criminals, but fear that the police want to prevent their proposed marriage. The longer Ann and Benjie spend with Jamie, the more convinced they are that Jamie poses a greater danger to them than the contact with the police they want to avoid.
