The Venice Project plot

Roland (Dennis Hopper) is an artist living in Venice, California. His sister (Lauren Bacall) is a countess who lives on their family's estate in Venice, Italy. Their father (John Wood) is nearly dead, leaving behind a considerable legacy. When the time comes, both children are full of anticipation. Much to their disappointment, he bequeaths his entire art collection of considerable value to the Italian government.
