Top movie this, perhaps one of the best acting performances ever by Jim Carrey. After his rather childish performance in other films with the elastic faces, he has finally proved his ability to act in this very original story.
The mystery is again beautifully worked out here. The character of Carrey is beautifully written and beautifully played. Also the environment is really brilliantly done. The humor may often be a bit bland, but there is very little to notice.
Very interesting to follow all, very interesting and quite original story too. I really enjoyed this film that develops its story strongly and can even be emotional. What was a shame was the somewhat misplaced humor at times

Quite enjoyable, although the film is somewhat unsubtle in both content and message. I also thought it would have been better if you didn't know from the first ten seconds that Truman is the star of a television series without him even knowing it. Let the viewer discover that gradually with Truman, it was more interesting been. Now there remains a very predictable story, but one that is nevertheless fun. I stepped in here expecting to see a real Carrey comedy, but I was pleasantly surprised that it is actually more of a drama. It's essentially more like a Black Mirror episode (with a lighter tone). Jim Carrey is surprisingly subdued, and the rest of the cast does a good job too, with Ed Harris putting down an interesting megalomaniac bad guy with a god complex. I didn't like the ending a bit, but overall The Truman Show is okay. 3*

Story is a masterpiece. There are so many parallels to 'real' life and questions to ask about people and society based on this film. Does exactly what it's supposed to do, spark a discussion in your head about anything you can get out of this movie's story.
A dragging long final scene, also a bit of a shame that it has to take place in a gigantic dome studio, a bit too 'science' fiction which in my opinion detracts a bit from the film. Furthermore, very well filmed and acted, but the story is mainly what makes this film a hit.
