The Substitute Wife plot
The Wild West, late 1800s. Amy Hightower, a devoted wife and mother, does not have long to live. Thinking that she will soon have to say goodbye to her children and husband, Amy sets out to find a woman who can replace her as mother and wife. Since the Hightowers do not have much money, their choice is not great and they end up with Pearl, a prostitute in search of a new life.....
