The Spider and the Fly plot

A young Frenchman kills his best friend in a drunken fight. He swears never to touch a drop of liquor again, but returns to the bottle when he gets involved with the seductive Blanche Le Noir, and soon becomes an alcoholic. Blanche, however, prefers the sinister Lantier and tries to use Lantier's daughter to get to him. The daughter is saved, however, by the efforts of the young American Richard Lee, who marries her. Unfortunately, Lee's sister is seduced by Lantier. Complications arise.
