The Private Affairs of Bel Ami plot
"All women take to men who have the appearance of wickedness"
Georges Duroy, aka Bel Ami, finds work at a newspaper through an old friend, the journalist Charles Forestier. Now that he has moved into influential social circles, Bel Ami is determined to realize his ambitions on the backs of the various women. When the ailing Charles dies, Bel Ami marries the widow Forestier and they make a pact to increase their influence. However, Bel Ami's ambitions extend even further.
