Tahiti, 1929. The musical Henry Shoesmith Jr. has a white father and a Polynesian mother. Henry one day inherits a cocoa plantation and a shop, but he prefers the simple life. When Henry falls in love with the native Tito, her guardian and hypocritical businessman Roger Slater is not happy. Slater, who has a crush on Tito, does everything he can to keep Henry and Tito apart.
