Based on the play by Tennessee Williams, this tells the story of the proud but domineering mother Amanda Wingfield, her dreamy daughter Laura and her disillusioned son Tom. They live in a shabby little apartment in St. Louis, without a father who disappeared from the family early on. Amanda wants the best for her children and hopes that Laura will meet a nice guy someday, but she is shy and prefers to play with her glass collection in her room. So Amanda orders Tom to bring a friend who can woo Laura.
