The Fisher King plot
"A Modern Day Tale About The Search For Love, Sanity, Ethel Merman And The Holy Grail."
Jack Lucas is a cult figure in radio circles. His program is widely listened to, although he does not mince his words and he makes very cynical remarks. Jack hates desperate people. Yet it is they who usually speak in his program. Edwin Malnick is a regular customer. When he tells that he has met the woman of his life, Jack smashes that dream with one comment. Impressed by Jack's statement, Malnick kills seven people and then kills himself. This also means the end of Jack's career. Three years later, Jack still feels responsible. He broods, torments himself, is destitute and has no prospects. One night he is driving drunk through New York and is attacked by a youth gang. He is rescued by a drifter named Parry, who is convinced that Jack can help him in his quest for the Holy Grail.
