Technical Sergeant Jim Moore is one of the toughest drill instructors on Parris Island. But he's got a bad apple in his platoon: Private Owens, who always seems to screw things up when the pressure is turned up a bit. Convinced that there is a man under that 'baby skin', Sergeant Moore drives Owens to the point that he wants to desert. And Captain Anderson makes things worse by giving Moore three days to turn that frightened soldier into a proper Marine.
