The Company Men plot

"In America, we give our lives to our jobs. It's time to take them back."

When the successful company Gene McClary has built slips out of his hands, he clashes with his partners to protect his long-time colleague Phil. He also seeks solace in an affair with his colleague Sally. Sally fires arrogant corporate employee Bobby Walker, who then desperately tries to cling to the symbols of his status; his high salary and his Porsche. Bobby is now forced to accept a job in construction, which his hardworking brother-in-law Jack Dolan offers him.

I did have my reservations for a while: should you make a film about people with an income of $ 120,000 if there have also been more painful layoffs in the credit crisis? But hey, every story deserves to be told. Excellent game from all involved; everyone here mentions the excellent Jones, some doubt the performances of Costner and Affleck (unjustified in my opinion), but although you learn the least from his home situation with Chris Cooper (and most stay at a distance), his beautiful role is also not allowed remain unmentioned. And just like kos (9-2-2011) I'm glad that Bobby doesn't continue to work as a carpenter in the end, that would have been a very romantic ending.

Good film in which three successful men are fired from a large company. The alternation between the three storylines keeps this film about the consequences of the financial crisis entertaining. The characters are well portrayed, partly due to the excellent cast. Perhaps a little too rosy ending.

Solid film about the flip side of the “American Dream”, in other words whoever sits high in the tree can fall deep. A quintessentially American film about the impact of the economic crisis of the previous decade on the lives of a number of cutbacks in managers (and their families).

The top cast delivers solid acting, which keeps the rippling story interesting. A thoughtful Chris Cooper and Rosemary DeWitt acting as an understanding "rock in the surf" steal the show.
