The Big Shot plot
"HUMPHREY BOGART as the Last of the Racket Barons... the Big Shot of 'em all!"
After twenty years in prison, the mobster Duke Bern is free again. However, he is unable to pick up the thread again and he is seduced by the dubious lawyer Martin Fleming into a robbery. Lorna, Fleming's wife and Duke's former girlfriend, luckily manages to change his mind. Then Fleming discovers that Duke and Lorna are again sharing the bed and in revenge he gets Duke a life sentence. However, Duke manages to escape and together with Lorna he flees.
