Taketori Monogatari plot

"Princess Kaguya came from outer space!"

After seeing a mysterious light in the sky, a poor couple investigates and finds a small cocoon close to their daughter's grave. The cocoon bursts open and a small baby emerges, who looks very much like their daughter. They decide to adopt the baby and the girl grows up to be a young lady of exceptional beauty. Unfortunately, it is impossible for her to tell which of her many lovers really loves her. When she finally comes to a decision, she also discovers her true origin...
