Sylvia West is a young poet engaged to Frederic Summers, an eccentric millionaire. Summers, a man always afraid that every woman is after his money, decides to have his wife-to-be checked. The results startle him; nothing is right about "his" Sylvia. Intrigued and confused, Summers hires detective Alan Maklin to investigate who actually is Sylvia.
