Swingers plot
Diana and Julian (in their thirties) have been together for quite some time. Despite Diana's insecurity, she agrees to experiment sexually with another couple. They place an advertisement on the internet to which the experienced Timo and Alex respond. In the course of that weekend, however, the mutual relationships change drastically.

Well there can be one. What a crap film with a crap performance! Poor story and bad dialogue. We see some buttocks and have to call it a movie. I recommend skipping it anyway, sorry.

An erotically charged relationship drama in which two couples get to know each other (but especially themselves) during a sex weekend. It has no thriller motif or flat humor, but Stephan Brenninkmeijer sticks to serious drama about the subtle tensions, frustrations and power changes between these four characters. Exploring new relationship boundaries with each other and disconnecting the passionate sex from the institution of marriage that smothers the passion. Yet the monogamous air of Brussels sprouts hangs over this liaison like a sword of Damocles, because fantasy does not just become reality with everyone's approval. Brenninkmeijer maintains a pleasant tension throughout the entire film between the clumsy craziness of their company versus their wild sex fantasies. 'Swingers' (2002) builds up the tension to a few remarkably well shot sex scenes - almost soft porn - that put the relationships between the characters on edge. Maybe the plot is a bit too predictable and the acting leaves a lot to be desired, but for a movie that's still circulating for free on YouTube (!) it's well worth it.

I remember how, in the shadow of the sexual revolution in the late 60s, early 70s, everyone suddenly started talking about partner swapping. I have never been seduced until recently married, but I also remember that at least one relationship in my area was killed after (alleged?) partner exchange.
Stephan Brenninkmeijer has made a thoughtful film about the doubts and repercussions surrounding this phenomenon. In addition to the story with the gradual switching of the roles, the catchy, almost laconic interpretation of the beautiful Ellen van der Koogh stuck with me.
My third Brenninkmeijer and also his best in my opinion. Just like his later films –Caged (2011) and (2013)– I also really liked this one. Just a beautiful, intriguing film from our own soil, tastefully portrayed.
