Sounder plot
The Morgans are a loving black farming family in Louisiana, 1933. A family crisis arises when the father is convicted of a minor offense and sent to a prison camp. After a few weeks, the mother sends her 11-year-old son to visit his father in the camp. The journey becomes a sort of odyssey for the boy.

Excellent film about a Black family that gets into trouble when the father goes to prison for stealing food. This nostalgic-feeling film is set in segregated Louisiana during the Great Depression. Part social drama, and part coming-of-age film. Good acting and false sentiment is avoided.
