Soleil Ô plot
A resident of Mauritania cheerfully decides to look for work in Paris. He hopes for a better life and thinks he has good prospects. Yet it turns out to be very difficult to find a job and an apartment.

Mubi again, and with success - because this was a great film. Soleil Ô is already about 50 years old, but still feels current. The story is easy to follow, even if the film is a bit experimental and non-linear at times - an African immigrant is brought to France, but is then looked down upon, with a lot of casual but also overt and intended racism. With the steady realization that France and the corporate world don't care about the individual people (neither the immigrants, nor the white workers). It is not a happy film that gets a bit talkative at times, but the jumps in location and time and also the more experimental scenes such as in the beginning and the end keep it interesting.
