Slaves plot

"The tamings...The desires...The furies...of the Old South!"

Luke (Ossie Davis) is the loyal slave of a Kentucky horse breeder, who is sold by him to the abusive owner of a cotton plantation. This plantation owner, Mackay (Stephen Boyd), has a mistress of the beautiful Negress Cassie (Dionne Warwick), who dreams of escaping her master's clutches. With Luke's arrival, Cassie and the rest of the slaves do everything they can to regain their freedom.
