Silent Night plot
"The powerful true story behind the most popular Christmas carol of all time"
1818. The young, imaginative and idealistic Joseph Mohr is appointed as the new assistant priest of Oberndorf, a small Austrian town near Salzburg. His passion to bring the Church closer to the common people puts him on a collision course with his superior, Father Noestler. When Mohr starts a church choir with the outcast from the local tavern and then starts singing in German instead of Latin, Noestler threatens him with disciplinary measures. The night before Christmas, Mohr must decide whether to accept defeat or let Oberndorf experience the true meaning of the Holy Night.
