"In Borstal, Survival Rules"

The harsh and shocking story of a British correctional institution for underage criminals in the late 1970s. The brutal regime did not provide any 'improvement' in any way, but rather encouraged a power struggle between them.

Although somewhat dated, a milestone in British film history, one of the most gruesome and dark films ever. Wonderful cast and you would think the inmates here are the intimidating sort, my credit goes to the guards. The great' Phil Daniels, hero from Quadrophenia also contributes. Scum offers a strong insight into what Borstals's life must have been like. Certainly not a feel good film, but an eye-opener that grabs you by the throat. Fantastic!

Impressive film about events in a juvenile detention center in the UK on the eve of the Thatcher era (1979). Inhumane leaders who participated in racism, did not intervene in a gang rape of a young prisoner, showed no sympathy when a prisoner received written notice that his wife had died and all kinds of other degrading scenes made sure that while watching (let's say "experiencing") ") of this film at times felt a lot of hatred towards the leaders of this prison and actually subconsciously sided with the oppressed and humiliated prisoners. In addition, I often forgot that those prisoners were there for a reason, of course. These feelings of hatred were aroused in me by the very natural and convincing acting of all the actors in this film. Very well done. What also added to the unforgettable viewing experience was the beautiful conversion of the film on the blu-ray from Indicator / Powerhouse Films.

Film about a juvenile detention center in the 1970s. There is hardly a story in it. It is actually mainly a summary of senseless violence, abuse of power and humiliations by the staff and the boys themselves.

Senseless but above all disgustingly bad film.
