Sadie and Son plot

"For these cops, fighting crime is a family affair!"

Sadie Rothman (Debbie Reynolds) has been a dedicated policewoman for 18 years. If she blows up a case, it gives her boss the opportunity to fire her. Her son Nolie (Brian McNamara) is a wannabe comedian who has just been fired from his job as a shoe salesman. He decides to maintain the family tradition and to follow police training. Meanwhile, Sadie is so successful as a neighborhood warden that the police station hires her again, this time not as a policewoman but as a detective. Mother and son are teamed up in the hunt for a cunning killer.
