Return of a Stranger plot

James Martin and Carol Wall plan to run away from home together, but a fight with her father's lawyer leads to a murder committed by a third party. James is suspected of this and the hunt is started. Carol refuses to talk to Martin and he flees by ship to South Africa. In South Africa, he gets involved in an accident that disfigures his face. Martin decides to go back to England with the idea that no one will recognize him again.
