Redbelt plot

"There's always a way out. You just have to find it."

Redbelt is set in a world of doormen, cage fighters, police officers and members of special forces. Mike Terry and his wife Sondra run a gym together where they teach Jiu-Jitsu. Although he is a talented fighter, he refuses to participate in competitions that would earn him money and save his gym from bankruptcy. Instead, he trains his students in self-defense according to the ancient Samurai code. One day, when he rescues movie star Chet Frank (Tim Allen), he is offered a job in Hollywood. This changes his life so drastically that he has to step into the ring for the first time in his life.

"Redbelt is set in a world of doormen, cage fighters, police officers and members of special units. " I think this sentence in the short description is exaggerated... Now it seems that the film is set in the criminal environment, in which there are occasional clashes with the police. This was not the case at all, but that aside.

The movie itself was nice, with a good story. The story was well put together, with occasional nice twists (which also makes it not really predictable). Kudos to Chiwetel Ejiofor, who is really doing very well. It was my first time seeing him at work, but I wouldn't mind seeing him at work more often.

The film did drop off towards the end, with a very weak ending in my opinion. Too bad, because the movie started off really well.

Pleasantly entertaining fight film-with-story, which also remains exciting for a fairly long time. But afterwards I'm going to wonder a bit what I was actually looking at. The story is full of holes, sloppiness, unnecessary scenes. You don't have to watch the romance between Dinges and Hoeheetzeagain either - that's one of those subplots they've forgotten, apparently. And, to top it off - I find the fighting a bit disappointing.

Ejiofor and Mortimer act well and save the film somewhat.

Great story...

Great acting...

Perfect background sound/music

(Dolby Digital)...

Nice HD quality widescreen...

Jammer comes from commercial TV channel RTL 7, every time in between advertising and a weird logo....
