Pictures plot

English brothers Walter and Alfred Burton, both photographers, emigrated to New Zealand in the nineteenth century. Their perspectives on the local subjects they photographed differed, and so did the authorities' attitude toward them. The government's intention was to attract new settlers while simultaneously brutally oppressing the Māori.
