Paradise Alley plot
When former European film director Agnus witnesses bickering in a boarding house, he sets out to find evidence of people's innate goodness. For his new film 'The Chosen and the Condemned', Agnus casts his neighbors and tenants from the guest house. Agnus succeeds in creating peace, unity and harmony in the neighbourhood. But it's all cheating, because Agnus doesn't have any film in his camera. When the head of a film studio learns of the project, he plans to release money that will allow Agnus to actually complete the film.
