Ma Shelby (Mae Marsh) is the mother of two children. She gives her boys everything their hearts desire, at the expense of herself. She is forced to take substandard jobs so that her children will never be short of anything. However, her efforts are "rewarded" with the callous indifference of her adult son Isaac.
