One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich plot

Confrontational portrayal of a day in the life of a prisoner in the Gulag during Stalin's regime in the Soviet Union. The film is a tribute to human dignity and the ability of man to preserve his humanity under impossible circumstances. We follow Ivan Denisovich, a prisoner in the eighth year of his ten-year sentence in a Siberian labor camp. The day is filled with small wins against the system. He tries not to get sick, he manages to get some extra food and tobacco, he finds a hacksaw, he builds a concrete wall and goes back to sleep without incurring the wrath of his guards. Accurate book adaptation of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn's classic, based on his own experiences.
