Oeroeg plot

Johan ten Berge is a young soldier who goes 'home' as a volunteer during the police actions, to Indonesia, where he was born and raised. The reality of the war with the freedom fighters is becoming increasingly gruesome and Johan is increasingly withdrawing from it inwardly. Because places, smells and people remind him of his childhood, he realizes more and more that he is actually looking for Oeroeg, his childhood friend and 'blood brother' from back then.
