"It Scorches With All the Intensity of Truth"
Johnnie Burke, 42, a British Labor Party politician has been re-elected to the UK Parliament. Burke is now also part of the government. There is speculation as to whether Prime Minister Reginald Stevens will give him a key post in his government. Unfortunately, that turns out not to be the case. The ambitious Burke is disappointed. In addition, his wife Alice appears to want to divorce him because of their loveless marriage. Burke thinks Alice wants a divorce because he didn't get a major position in government. Burke misses Alice's absence and seeks contact with other women, such as his single neighbor Mary. But then Burke meets 20-year-old fashion model Pauline West. A relationship with a woman so young it could have been his daughter, however, jeopardizes his political career.
