Ivan (Alen Liveric) is a 36-year-old former rock singer and disillusioned war veteran who lost both legs in the recent Yugoslav war after Serbs chased him into a minefield with a gun to his head. His father Izidor (Mustafa Nadarevic) was a well-known political prisoner in the former Yugoslavia and is now an independent candidate for the Croatian Parliament. Suddenly, a face from the past resurfaces: a Serbian refugee named Simo (Zdenko Jelcic), who has recently returned to the city. A former communist official, Simo captured Izidor decades ago. He knows certain facts about Izidor that could ruin his reputation and his political campaign. Simo demands money in exchange for his silence and he also has a secret agreement with Ivan's mother, Ana. Soon, a long-buried secret resurfaces - with huge consequences for Ivan. He begins to provoke Croats by singing Serbian nationalist songs and challenging them to kill him.
