Wonderful road movie that manages to combine drama with comedy in an excellent way. Especially the relationship between father and son is very beautifully portrayed by Bruce Dern and Will Forte. Particular emphasis has been placed on the fact that not everything is as it seems. There are always situations that underlie this, and so are in this film. Mental and cognitive impairment in the father, and binge drinking plays a major role in the past and present. This provides the necessary friction but also gives the film the opportunity for the necessary humor. A strong playing cast and beautiful black and white images make this story a very successful film.

Great movie from start to finish. Really enjoyed this road movie. The black and white gives a deeper dimension to the fillm, but perhaps it wouldn't have been necessary. the role of the mother was truly sublime. The father also plays a convincing role.

Film contains hilarious moments, sometimes subtle, sometimes more explicit. The film also tells the forced relationship of a father-son who was constantly disrupted by alcohol. The son who tries to bond with his father by supporting him in what could be one of his last goals in life. The ending is a bit 'good news', I thought it was just too forced, but I'd like to add that.

“Does he have Alzheimer's?”

"No, he just believes what people tell him."

“That's too bad.”

Nice movie again by Alexander Payne. The acting by Dern, Forte, Odenkirk and Keach, the black and white images, the dialogues and the way the story unfolds quietly. Everything exudes craftsmanship. When you finally see Woody Grant driving through that town, you really feel for him, and that proud face of his son was also my reaction. Payne always knows how to expose the shortcomings of people in a sincere and sharp way, but fortunately he also shows the beautiful sides.
