At times hard-hitting drama that provides a glimpse into the lives of three apparently lost people. Without their own doing, they have ended up in three precarious, hopeless situations. In the middle part of the film, the intense changes into a somewhat calmer, positive part, where the alternation between hope and severe pain always appears to be close to each other. The storylines are not everyday, which creates a certain distance between me as a viewer and the characters who have been hit a hundred times worse. Prevailing themes such as freedom (of expression), status and security (the obvious presence is always the state as in the police force) are clearly present and well presented. Above all, there is also strong acting by the many different characters, from young to old. The film, including a short, symbolic ending, is in line with what I read today: 'Life is change, like the seasons. There is always a new spring' - Paulo Coelho. 4*

They saw plank film from thick wood, which is already clear after a scene or two of When darkness falls. Heavy themes and also presented rather dramatically, but without a delicate psychological foundation and also narrative, it is not always credible. Didn't like the acting at all, many scenes are really scripted. The three storylines keep it watchable and the few times that a percussion score can be heard worked well.

Handsome mosaic film in which the story of the young girl in particular catches the eye. Disconcerting portrait of an apparently normal family in which the honor and reputation of the family is more important than one's own happiness. Women are dominated in this very patriarchal and masculine view.

Nice montage in which the three stories are nicely interspersed. It never gets boring when you switch stories. The pace keeps the transitions and the atmosphere of the plot entertaining.

I found the doorman's story the least interesting, but the story about family violence was also quite spicy. Still remarkable that here too the woman lost out from a social point of view. Amazing even, also from other women except the mother-in-law (!) and sister.

Floating between a decent 3.5* and 4.0*, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.
