Mottige Janus plot

Janus Rechtsom, nicknamed de Mottige, is a tough, good sailor. He has a heart of gold and wants nothing more than to give it to the nanny Lena Doorn, the girl next door he grew up with. Lena, however, is only too happy to listen to the flattery of the free-spirited Van Klarenberghe, a gentleman of a good family. The old Rechtsom tries to make it clear to Lena that Van Klarenberghe only plays with her and will never make her his wife.
