Mother Night plot
"The truth is more shocking than the uniform he wears... HE WAS AN AMERICAN SPY."
Howard Campbell is a successful American playwright in Germany under Hitler. An American major, Frank Wirtanen, approaches him to infiltrate a Nazi organization as a spy. There he writes pro-Hitler radio texts, in which he processes coded information for the Allies. After the sudden death of his wife, he flees Germany to lead a secluded life in New York. There he is recognized as a Nazi hero by Jones, a Neo-Nazi leader. When Jones announces that Campbell is alive and well in New York, the State of Israel asks for Campbell's extradition.
