Mort en Fraude plot
In 1950, Paul Horcier lands in Saigon. He is received by Cruchet, the deputy director of the company Dussollier, who wants to hire him. Cruchet drives him through a maze of streets to his apartment. But Horcier, in exchange for 200,000 francs, had agreed to bring a package of dollars to Saigon. Cruchet has barely left when a stranger breaks in and demands the money. However, Horcier claims it was stolen from the boat. In the evening, Horcier is chased by currency smugglers and manages to escape. He ends up in a house where Anh lives, a young Eurasian woman who tells them, against payment of a large sum of money, that he spends the night in her room. The next morning, Horcier convinces her to take him for whatever amount he still has to Vin Bao, his native village, located in the suburbs of Saigon, a place where he is sure his pursuers will not find him.
