Mei Guo Nu Hai plot
Taiwanese Fen and her younger sister Ann grew up in Los Angeles. Their mother, who has been diagnosed with breast cancer, reluctantly takes them back to Taiwan, which is currently being hit by a SARS epidemic. Although Fen is reunited with her estranged father, he is unable to settle in the new environment. As her school grades deteriorate, Fen increasingly clashes with her mother. Then her sister is hospitalized with pneumonia.
