We see the events during the final weeks before the disappearance (and presumed death) of Maya Dardel. She is a renowned poet and novelist living in California's Santa Cruz Mountains until 2016. Maya announces over the radio that she will end her life and that young male authors can compete with each other. The winner will inherit not only her house, but also books and unpublished manuscripts.
