Matterhorn plot
Fred is a lonely 54-year-old man who has lived alone in the village since his wife's death. He has neighbors, goes to church, but otherwise very little happens in his life. Until one day he happens to meet the vagabond Theo who is wandering in the village. The contact with Theo makes Fred blossom completely.

Seen on NPO missed. A movie meant to be a fairy tale. With predictable orthodox believers. Do young people still understand this or are these just clichés with a stage sauce? Predictably fun. I can't shout like the others. No irony used as a food source, but prejudices about Calvinists who are still 'missing the jenever' here. Calvinism outside of the movie, in reality, is sometimes a lot more tragic, and that's because people are nicer and much more ordinary in real life. This is a movie for viewers who like to moan about what weird things happen on the other side of the river. That's how good we are...

During dinner this film came up again and I immediately wanted to watch it again. I especially remembered the absurd and comical situations of the film. But after all this time I had forgotten that there was also a very beautiful and carefully constructed story in the film. I had already given it 5 stars at the time, and I still fully support it now. A really nice movie. And thus the debut of Diederik Ebbinge. Then unknown. But that has also become a different story with the Luizenmoeder.
