Mari to Koinu no Monogatari plot
One day after her mother's death, Mari stumbles upon an abandoned puppy. At first she keeps her far away from home because her father is afraid of dogs. After a while the dog is accepted and she can take her home. A year later, the dog gives birth to three puppies. Shortly after, a major earthquake hits the mountain village in which Mari lives. To save her grandfather, she has to leave the dog and her newborn puppies behind. When her family is brought to safety, Mari decides to go back to rescue the dogs.
