Matt Braddock is an engineer who has revolutionary ideas about shipbuilding. While trying to set up prefabricated shipyards on the West Coast, Matt faces a rival: shipbuilding engineer Joel Kennedy. Kennedy's son Russ idolizes Matt. But Diana Kennedy, Russ' sister, thinks Matt is a hopeless idealist who could ruin her father.
