Maihime plot

A young Japanese military doctor (Gô) receives a scholarship in 1885 to broaden his knowledge in the West and he goes to study in Berlin under the watchful eye of the military attaché with the renowned professor Robert Koch. There East meets West in the form of passion, romance and poverty, which make him decide to leave the army and live with a Western woman (Wolf) until he returns to his homeland after fourteen years, because he has received an offer that he couldn't refuse.
