Little Sparrows plot

"Simple and sincere, celebrating life and the unconditional love of a mother."

On a Christmas day in a hot Australian summer we meet a family. The mother is Susan. She is married to James, a veteran actor who is enjoying a boom in his acting career. They have three daughters. Their eldest daughter Nina is a widow with 2 young children. Anna is an actress, married to a director. Christine is the youngest and studies medicine. As Susan's breast cancer spreads throughout her body, the family is faced with a number of choices. Each of her three daughters has a story that confronts them. The mother advises them on this and reveals her own story.
