Saw it for the first time years ago.

Truly one hell of a film about the fringe of society, with one hell of an actress, Juliette Binoche. I've never caught her in a bad role. Without a doubt one of the greatest actresses of the last decades and even as a clochard she still looks amazing.

Denis Lavant also delivers a first-class performance.

Typically one of those movies that you always remember seeing.

A very beautiful romantic film, in which various genres flow into each other in an almost natural way.

A beautiful location for such a film. A love story on a bridge in Paris. Paris is already a very beautiful city, but all those moments by the Seine make it even more beautiful. Visually it is very varied in style, but also in level. Sometimes there are a few less beautiful scenes, but also some great scenes. Sometimes it all looks very unclear, sometimes it is taken care of down to the last detail. The moment, when the fireworks explode over the Seine, is really beautiful to see. Reality is sometimes interspersed with some surrealism, but nevertheless it remains quite fascinating.

Binoche is also such an actress who has something special. She has a strong charisma and knows how to make something special from her role as the increasingly blind Michèle. Opponent Dennis Levant is almost as good. The game between the two lovers is especially powerful and together they really know how to transfer the romance to the living room. Rarely seen a blossoming love between two people portrayed visually as beautifully as here. The message seems clear. No matter how hard people have it, no matter how they are treated like old garbage by society, in the end love conquers all.

That's why I thought the ending was very beautiful and well suited to the rest. It is a pity that the film sinks for a while before that. The director also seems to have had some trouble putting a real end to it. Nevertheless, I am quite impressed by Les Amants du Pont-Neuf. It is a beautiful film, with an extremely strong love story, and a film that could increase in appreciation in the future.

Some visually stunning scenes in a film that mainly impresses cinematographically with a brilliant staging, which does not prevent the actors being very good (especially Binoche) and that the sad fate of clochards is strongly underlined.

Strong and thrilling film by Leos Carax, original in design, in a kind of modern and imaginatively edited nouvelle vague style, with raw realism and dreamy romanticism neatly mixed together.

Special movie.
