Brought this from the library and looked at it. The movie started off promising, but unfortunately it didn't stay interesting enough. However, the cast did a great job and the film also looked good. Good for once, but don't need to see him again.

Intriguing story and film to match. It certainly held my attention until the end. I was curious about the 'outcome' of this intelligent power struggle. Unfortunately, this film doesn't quite live up to expectations and leaves quite a few questions unanswered. After all, who was responsible for the death of that Daniel Roché? It wasn't made clear to me. There are also too many inconsistencies. A G8 meeting with only Italians? I don't think so. Moreover, the backgrounds of the participants are not fleshed out. So who are we watching, and what exactly do they want for the world? I don't think the film wants us to understand that. And that monk is quite the creep.

Anyway, the location is beautiful: Heiligendamm, on the German Baltic Sea coast, part of the municipality of Bad Doberan, accessible by a nostalgic steam train. Then walk through the forest to the coast. Heiligendamm is little more than a row of (neglected) eighteenth-century villas and a gigantic hotel complex, where this so-called conference is taking place. I have been there. Breathtaking, as if time has stood still, and virtually deserted. Didn't see a soul. Just a few tourists. Go there! It still exists.
