Le Chat dans le Sac plot
Claude is a young journalist from Quebec living in Montreal. He is alienated from today's society and unhappy. He can't change it, doesn't want to compromise or accept it. It bothers him that his Anglophone Jewish girlfriend Barbara is less philosophical than he is and more concerned with her theater career than sharing his concerns about social issues. The tension with Barbara and the conflicts with his publishers eventually cause Claude to leave town.
