La Tregua plot
In the winter of 1945, the Red Army liberates Auschwitz. For prisoner 174517, the Italian Jew Primo Levi, the return journey to Turin begins. He feels completely lost in the confrontation with the sudden freedom. After a first journey by train, he ends up even deeper in Poland. On his way he meets other travelers, including a philosophical Greek and a beautiful nurse. In this way Primo Levi wanders through Eastern Europe for a while, via Poland and Ukraine to Odessa and finally back home in Italy. Meanwhile, he tries to put his years of suppressed thoughts and emotions back together and fears what he will find at home.
